What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Support Technician position at Central Office?
Job Goal: Support the educational needs of the district by prioritizing and coordinating repairs, technical support, and maintenance of district technology hardware and software.
Qualifications:
- Physical Examination as required by the district.
- Practical knowledge of current computer platforms and operating systems
- Practical knowledge of LAN and WAN design and management in order to implement efficient bandwidth usage and reliability
- Understanding of network security systems
- Degree or equivalent training in computer hardware repair
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other staff
- Knowledge of Google Apps for Education
- Strong written and oral language skills
- Ability to work well with others
- Blood borne pathogens certificate on file
- Child abuse certificate on file
- Experience integrating technology into classroom learning in meaningful ways.
Reports to: Director of Technology
Performance and Responsibilities:
- Provide hardware and software support to all users.
- Maintain a record of current inventory and repair history.
- Perform routine maintenance of all district technology equipment.
- Troubleshoot networking issues on wired and wireless networks.
- Assist technology director with the creation and editing of policies to manage network.
- Perform evaluation and installation of new software as needed in coordination with Technology Director
- Coordinate the assembly and distribution of new equipment.
- Maintain network security and protection systems
- Coordinate with vendors to facilitate repairs of equipment
- Foster positive relationships with staff and patrons.
- Complete necessary documentation to recover costs related to repairs through Specialty Underwriters
- Assist the technology director with planning of hardware, software and purchased services as requested.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Wages and work year to be determined by the Superintendent and the Board of Education.
EVALUATIONS: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director of Technology.
