CACFP Custodian
Reports to: Custodian Lead
Position starts: August 18, 2026
Qualifications
The CACFP Custodian should be able to:
- Perform demanding physical labor and tasks/skills required to keep buildings clean.
- Handle minor building maintenance jobs.
- Assume responsibility to initiate cleaning tasks and procedures.
- Work with a minimum of supervision.

Essential Functions
- Report to work appropriately dressed and in proper condition to perform all assigned duties.
- Open the building and check all assigned areas for proper working condition.
- Efficiently organize the daily routine and the work schedule.
- Responsible for cleaning and maintaining all areas where Food Service activities occur; including but not limited to all Cafeterias, hallways, and classrooms where food is served/disposed.
- Empty, clean, and maintain trash receptacles.
- Set up and take down all tables before and after meals in all Cafeterias.
- Ensure proper maintenance of building equipment within responsible area and notify the Custodian Lead of maintenance needs outside responsible area.
- Ensure proper use, cleaning, requisition, and storage of all equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Maintain communication with Custodian Lead concerning questions about building cleaning program.
- Ensure proper security of building at all times. Check appropriate doors and windows. Assure that students and/or unauthorized persons are not admitted to the buildings.
- Perform additional custodial duties when assigned by the supervisor or administrators.
- Perform both custodial and maintenance duties during the summer months and assigned school vacation days to prepare for the following year’s CACFP program.
- Adhere to special work schedule in the summer months and assigned school vacation days as requested.
- Perform any reasonable incidental duties assigned by the District, including but not limited to maintenance and/or additional custodial duties, etc.

- Is regularly required to walk, hear and speak.
- Must have close moderate and distance vision ability.
- Must be able to travel between district facilities.
- Must be able to communicate in noisy environments such as construction sites.

Conditions and Environment
The individual who occupies this position will regularly be required to work outside occasionally in inclement weather including rain, snow and temperatures below freezing or in excess of 100 degrees.
Evaluation of Performance and Employment
The evaluation of performance and consideration for employment will be under the jurisdiction of the Custodian Lead in consultation with the Maintenance/Transportation Director and the Superintendent as it pertains to the CACFP Program.
