JOB TITLE: Business Manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Successfully pass background check, including criminal history.
  • Excellent ability to collaborate with the school board, district and building administration, as well as staff and the public.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data processing and software use.
  • Preferred experience in general accounting.
  • Equivalent formal education may be considered.
  • Experience in labor relations, negotiations, and contract compliance.
  • Familiarity with levy and bonds.

 REPORTS TO: Superintendent

 

JOB GOAL: The Business Manager is responsible for effectively and efficiently managing the business and fiscal operations of the Granger School District, while fostering collaboration between district and building administration.



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure the accuracy of all accounting and financial processes, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and purchasing and receiving functions.
  2. Prepare comprehensive financial statements for all funds in compliance with current accounting principles.
  3. Collaborate with the school board, district and building administration to prepare the district budgets as directed by the Superintendent.
  4. Maintain the general ledger and reconcile district records with the county treasurer.
  5. Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements to personnel responsible for budgeting.
  6. Coordinate and monitor operating budgets in collaboration with district and building administration.
  7. Attend Board of Directors' meetings and present regular budget status reports.
  8. Monitor the cash flow of district funds and optimize the investment of available funds.
  9. Prepare claims for all federal, state, and local categorical funds, and maintain proper fiscal grant files.
  10. Compile and submit all required financial reports to regulatory agencies in a timely manner.
  11. Review grant applications for legal requirements and financial considerations, in collaboration with district and building administration.
  12. Assist staff in understanding and complying with rules and regulations governing district operations.
  13. Ensure the maintenance of adequate and auditable records for all funds.
  14. Attend state and local meetings as required by the position, in collaboration with district and building administration.
  15. Foster collaboration and effective communication between district and building administration in all financial and operational matters.
  16. Work closely and under the direction of the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and Federal Programs director to enhance collaboration in supporting and budgeting for both state and federal grants, as well as managing grant claims effectively.
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

LENGTH: 260 days per year, sick leave and vacation days based on board policy.  

WORK SCHEDULE: As required by the position and set by the Superintendent.

EVALUATION: Annually by the Superintendent by June 30th.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary and benefits are determined in accordance with applicable state law and Granger School District Board policy . 

*Salary is prorated for employees hired after the start of the calendar year, based on their actual hire date*

Salary : $125,000 - $140,655
