What are the responsibilities and job description for the District Manager position at Central Network Retail Group LLC?
This position will support stores in mid to southern Alabama.
Summary:
The District Manager is responsible for leading the development of store managers and others by exemplifying the company’s culture through the execution and continued education of company values and business operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Exemplify and ensure CNRG values remain forefront in daily business as well as keeping all store managers (and team members) informed as to store and company expectations and news.
- Ensure CNRG’s commitment to excellent customer service is defined to employees and demonstrated as part of total store operations to exceed customer expectations.
- Maintain a high level of enthusiasm, commitment, energy and motivate other employees to do the same.
- Develop business plans with each store manager, which will define the marketing, financial and operational goals for the store. Review progress in depth as needed; at least quarterly with each manager.
- Advise store management teams on proper merchandising techniques for the retail sales floor and ensuring excellent customer service is understood and maintained to meet the customer’s needs and to exceed the customer’s expectations.
- Verify that merchandise is properly and safely received, stored and merchandised in all stores according to established procedures.
- Ensure delivery procedures are followed so that merchandise is loaded and delivered on time and customers coming to pick up merchandise are processed promptly and courteously.
- Work with store management to ensure commercial sales employees are aggressively pursuing new commercial customers while maintaining a great level of service for current customers to include retail business.
- Report any material impact to business promptly to the Regional/Area Vice President or Chief Operating Officer. Take appropriate action to curtail any negative impact to business operations and communicate publicly those events, which enhance business performance.
- Effectively and according to company values and guidelines solve problems immediately upon their discovery and communicate results properly.
- Lead the store manager position recruiting efforts within your district to ensure succession planning and bench strength development.
- Assist in the recruiting, selecting and training of employees when necessary.
- Ensure a team environment is understood and maintained within each store in the district.
- Perform audits as necessary with a focus on operational execution and overall business management.
- Must be willing and able (must be certified in all store functions and have mastered all service skills) to assume the role and responsibilities of a store manager if needed for a period of time.
- Other functions as assigned by the Regional/Area Vice President or company official.
Perform other duties similar to those above as assigned by the Regional/Area Vice President or other qualified corporate or platform representative.
Safety & Loss Prevention:
- Ensure each location has a complete Emergency Plan that has been communicated to the staff.
- Understand and review maintenance checklists to ensure safe operation and enhance longevity of company equipment.
- Ensure those operating vehicles or forklifts have the appropriate valid certifications to do so.
- Help identify and correct safety problems or hazards. Educate management and employees on findings in other locations and how to prevent occurrence.
- Possess strong working knowledge of store and yard security measures. Educate management on any deficiencies found.
- Ensure all equipment is in good condition and safe (ladders, forklifts, trucks).
- Follow and ensure others follow company safety guidelines and basic safety practices at all times.
- Educate management in shrinkage control to include a review of external & internal theft prevention, administrative loss identification and physical inventory processes.
Perform other duties similar to those above as assigned by the Regional/Area Vice President or other qualified corporate or platform representative.
Qualifications:
A successful District Manager must understand and be able to educate others regarding CNRG values and business operations. They must demonstrate excellent leadership and problem solving skills. Be able to manage with limited supervision. They must have good oral/written communication skills in order to effectively interact with customers, vendors and other employees. A successful district manager must understand and be able to educate others about CNRG’s commitment to excellent customer service and developing a team-oriented environment. They must have excellent management, communication and organizational skills. Additionally, they must understand and interpret data presented in statistical or numerical form and be able to use it effectively in assessing, budgeting and coordinating the merchandise and operational aspects of store operations. They must be detail oriented and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment. They must be able to climb up and down ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs., handle large odd shaped items, and stock items in overhead areas. Finally, they must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Must have and maintain a valid driver license, have an acceptable driving record and maintain automobile insurance. They must be able to travel by automobile during the day or night for several hundred miles per day and be able to stay overnight for assignments as needed.
