Position Summary
Reporting to the senior associate director of web and digital strategy, the digital strategist support lead provides leadership, consultation, advice, and project management to academic and administrative units across campus. Each digital strategist has a portfolio of institutional clients to manage and collaborate with to ensure adherence to CMU brand alignment and the development of robust, engaging content. This position will help create a cohesive user experience and provide support to campus content publishers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in digital media, marketing, communications, journalism, design, or a related field.
One year of relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally within a team.
Demonstrated experience working with an enterprise-class content management system or digital experience platform.
Demonstrated experience leading internal and external client presentations.
Demonstrated understanding of digital strategy, design, production, and project management, as well as digital marketing and accessibility.
Ability to translate complex and varied inputs including data, user research, strategic direction, and broad industry research into compelling stories and actionable web content in order to identify feasible options and evaluate strategic trade-offs.
Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously.
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with some project management experience.
Proven ability to operate with a strategic mindset with outstanding program management skills and the ability to track multiple project deliverables and thrive in a complex, dynamic environment.
Ability to demonstrate a strong customer service focus, including interpersonal skills, courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude.
Strong critical thinking, analytical, and creative talent skills and the ability to develop a concept, idea, or content into a strong visual presentation that maximizes marketing effectiveness.
Ability to effectively present conceptual solutions to key stakeholders and team members.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong editing, grammar, and proofreading skills.
Ability to work independently, as well as on a team.

Duties & Responsibilities
Serves as the primary point of contact for campus collaborators, providing day-to-day support, guidance, and issue resolution.
Provides consultation and real-time support on web best practices, including accessibility, SEO, content structure, and writing for the web.
Reviews content prior to publication to ensure adherence to CMU brand standards, accessibility requirements, and UX best practices.
Supports and enforces web governance standards.
Leads onboarding and trainings for new and existing collaborators.
Develops and maintains training materials, documentation, and resources to support campus-wide content contributors.
Monitors and supports proper use of workflows, ensuring content is reviewed, approved, and published according to established processes.
Partners with other digital strategists to escalate complex strategy, Information Architecture (IA), or technical issues as needed.
Conducts regular audits of collaborator created content and provides actionable feedback.
Communicates platform updates, governance changes, and best practices through established channels (e.g., trainings, documentation, internal communications).
Supports content cleanup initiatives, including draft management, outdated content removal, and accessibility efforts.
Assists with monitoring site health through routine checks (e.g., broken links, formatting issues) and coordinates corrections with collaborators.
Provides basic interpretation of analytics to collaborators to inform content improvements and reinforce best practices.
Builds strong relationships with campus partners to promote consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement in web content.
Performs other duties as assigned.
