BASIC FUNCTION:
The Grant Writer will play a critical role within Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance (CMHA) Development team securing funding for our housing initiatives, including emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, and eviction prevention programs. Your primary focus will be researching, drafting, and submitting high-quality proposals to government agencies, private foundations, and corporate partners.
The Grant Writer will continually research potential grant opportunities across all CMHA programs and bring potential sources forward at the regularly scheduled grants meetings. They will manage the grants application process and identify portions for others to complete, coordinating with Directors to compile a full application for submission. They will identify gaps in funding and strive to match potential sources to achieve CMHA initiatives. They will apply a methodical and analytical approach to meeting the needs of all CMHA programmatic funding opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research and identify grant opportunities from government agencies, private foundations, and corporate sources aligned with CMHA's mission and programs
- Develop and write persuasive grant proposals, including narratives, and supporting documentation
- Create a strategic grant calendar and manage application timelines to ensure on-time submissions
- Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information about existing and planned initiatives
- Coordinate with Grant Administrator to maintain accurate records of all grant submissions, awards, and reporting requirements
- Write compelling impact reports for existing funders highlighting program outcomes and successes
- Stay current on emerging trends in healthcare funding, chronic disease management, and digital health education
- Support the development of evaluation metrics that demonstrate program effectiveness
- Coordinate with the leadership team to ensure grant proposals align with organizational strategic goals
- Maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, submissions, and outcomes
- Assist in creating fundraising materials that can be used across multiple platforms and campaigns
- Other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in English, Communications, Public Health, Non-profit Management, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in grant writing preferred, preferably in Housing or Non-Profit sector
- Proven track record of successful grant procurement, particularly in securing five and six-figure grants, a plus.
- Excellent writing, editing, and research skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Strong understanding of grant application processes and funder requirements
- Knowledge of chronic disease management, patient education, or healthcare initiatives preferred
- Proficiency with grant management software and database systems
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with program staff and communicating with funders
- Understanding of program evaluation and outcome measurement
- Ability to translate complex healthcare concepts into compelling narratives for diverse audiences
- Experience with federal grants (HUD, SAMHSA) a plus
