BASIC FUNCTION:
Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant is responsible for recording and reconciling financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable and ensuring accuracy in the general ledger. The Accountant will assist with month end closing activities including accruals, account fluctuations, expense analysis and balance sheet reconciliations.
Additionally, they will assist with the year end audit by providing documentation and supporting schedules.
The Accountant may also assist with the preparation of billings to federal, state, and local governments and support the preparation of budgets for government contracts.
This role will collaborate closely within the Finance team and other departments and foster opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Record and analyze financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal controls and policies
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accurate coding of transactions to programs, grants, and departments
- Support month-end close including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Provide analysis of expenses and revenue compared to budget or prior periods
- Support cash reporting and forecasting
- Assist with audits ensuring that all financial records and supporting documents are accurate
- Maintain and optimize the organization's accounting systems and provide recommendations for system or process improvements
- Assists with monthly billings to federal, state, and local governments as needed
- Other duties as assigned

.Q.UALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a BA or BS in accounting or related field
- 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Experience with general ledger, month end closing, A/P and A/R. Nonprofit accounting preferred
- Proficient computer skills, proficiency in Excel and accounting ERP systems, preferably NetSuite
- Able to effectively work in a team environment
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $29.85 - $31.85 per hour
