What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian/Maintenance Technician position at Central Massachusetts Collaborative?
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
The Custodian/Maintenance Technician is an energetic and flexible employee who is eager to work in our therapeutic day school with a high needs population of students ages 5 to 22. This position is accountable for maintaining the physical school facilities in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety, so that full educational use of them may be made at all times.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Custodial:
1. Keeps CMC buildings neat and clean at all times.
2. Cleans bodily fluids as needed.
3. Report and clean any graffiti found through the building.
4. Cleans drinking fountains daily.
5. Vacuum, clean, and empty trash daily in front offices, reception and single use bathrooms.
6. Assist and maintain cleanliness of cafeteria during lunch periods.
7. Replenish soap and paper in all dispensers as needed.
8. Wash glass in doors and windows as needed.
9. Empty outside trash bins and police perimeter of building for litter.
10. Maintain clean hallways by removing staples, tape and cleaning all scuff marks.
11. Help set up and cleans up after activities in building.
12. Disinfect the playscape, at least quarterly.
13. Clean all ceiling vents, at least quarterly.
14. May assume responsibility for the opening and/or closing of the building each day and for ensuring security of the building through inspection prior to leaving, checking to verify that all windows and doors are closed and locked and alarm buildings.
15. Report any condition of the facilities that is not safe or functioning as designed to his or her supervisor.
16. Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.
Maintenance:
1. Make plumbing repairs to sinks, toilets, faucets etc.
2. Make minor electrical repairs.
3. Make minor carpentry repairs, assembles furniture, shelving etc.
4. Make minor repairs to equipment such as vacuum cleaners, snow blowers and other custodial equipment.
5. Patch and paints walls and other building components.
6. Participate in snow and ice removal when needed.
7. Assist with HVAC repairs and other maintenance tasks as needed.
8. Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the administrator.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
1. Able to work afternoons/evenings.
2. Able to exercise universal precautions and tolerate management of body fluids, if needed.
3. Lift and carry objects and school equipment up to 75 pounds.
4. High School diploma (additional related technical training, a plus).
5. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
6. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and professionally with all Collaborative staff, outside vendors, property management personnel and the general public.
7. Must hold a valid driver’s license.

WORK YEAR: Full year, 260 days (183 pupil days, 77 non-pupil days)
WORK HOURS: 8.0 hours per day for pupil days, 7 hours per day for non-pupil days
SALARY: $28 - $32 per hour
