Central High School
Providence, RI Full Time
POSTED ON 4/14/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/1/2050

Providence Public Schools District (PPSD) seeks an exceptional SENIOR ARMY INSTRUCTOR who is highly qualified and skillful to join our community of teachers, students and stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who seek a challenging yet rewarding teaching experience.

We serve approximately 22,000 students at 37 elementary, middle, and high schools. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. Combined, our students and families speak 55 different languages and hail from 91 countries of origin. In PPSD, the teachers and leaders set high expectations for academic achievement, provide equal access to differentiated instruction, and endeavor to close the achievement and opportunity gap among historically marginalized subgroups within the schools.  PPSD is a great place for those who desire an environment that supports their creativity and ingenuity, and respects their credentials and abilities as a teacher.

Under the direction of US Army Cadet Command (in accordance with Cadet Command Regulation 145-2), and that of the Central High School Principal, the SAI commands and supervises a four-year Army JROTC Program which constitutes and elective subject for high school grades 9 through 12. The SAI is responsible for the coordination, logistics, supervision and teaching within the program.  The curriculum focuses on citizenship, character, and leadership development with a strong emphasis on keeping students in high school through graduation.  Additional emphasis is placed on teaching skills necessary to succeed at the post-secondary education level. JROTC is not a recruiting forum.
