The Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning (“Assistant Principal”) serves as the instructional leader at Central Catholic High School (“CCHS” or the “school”). This role holds primary responsibility for advancing academic excellence across all disciplines. The Assistant Principal is a collaborative and forward-thinking leader who inspires faculty, promotes inclusive and innovative teaching practices, and supports high-impact learning for all students.
As a member of the administrative team, the Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning helps shape academic priorities, supports faculty development, and ensures instructional practices align with the mission of the school. The Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning collaborates with academic departments, the administrative team, the Director of Innovation, and the IT team to enhance curriculum and integrate instructional technology that supports effective teaching and learning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Leadership and Curriculum Oversight ● Leads academic department chairs and faculty in developing and maintaining high-quality curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices. ● Evaluates curriculum to ensure alignment with course goals, academic standards, and student learning outcomes. ● Collaborates with academic department chairs and faculty to analyze student data and apply evidence-based strategies that support academic and social growth for all students. ● Supports academic department chairs in selecting textbooks and instructional materials that align with curriculum goals and outcomes. Faculty Oversight and Professional Development ● Observes, evaluates, and supports faculty to promote effective instruction and ensure consistent use of the Canvas learning management system (“LMS”), including class pages and grade books. ● Guides and develops academic department chairs by setting clear goals, providing ongoing feedback, and supporting leadership growth. ● Designs and oversees the teacher orientation and mentorship program to support new faculty in their transition and development. ● Promotes a culture of professional growth by encouraging participation in high-quality development opportunities related to teaching and learning. ● Plans and facilitates in-service programs focused on effective teaching practices and instructional improvement. ● Stays informed on current educational research and best practices through ongoing professional development. Collaboration, Technology, Innovation and Academic Support ● Collaborates with the Director of Innovation to assess educational technology needs and support effective integration of technology into teaching and learning. ● Serve as the lead administrator for the Canvas learning management system, collaborate with the IT team to oversee platform configuration, system optimization, and the implementation, quality, and consistency of course content to ensure effective teaching and learning. ● Research, evaluate, implement, and oversee training, workshops, and one-on-one support to help faculty integrate technology effectively. ● Remain current on emerging educational technologies and recommend tools that improve instruction and student engagement. ● Collaborate with faculty to integrate technology into curriculum and instruction, support the creation of digital content and assessments, and promote best practices across all learning environments. ● Guide and support the responsible use of AI in education in alignment with school policies and academic goals. ● Support the Director of Innovation in the development and execution of long-term strategies for academic technology and innovation. ● Works closely with members of the administrative team to align efforts and ensure cohesive leadership across the school. ● Other duties as assigned that are consistent with the foregoing responsibilities and objectives.HOW TO APPLY For immediate consideration, interested candidates are invited to submit the following materials.
