Meals on Wheels Driver On Call

This position is under the supervision of the Senior Nutrition Service Director, this position is responsible for assisting with the Meals on Wheels program. Primary duties include packing and delivering meals to homebound individuals on a designated route and congregate meals to designated senior center sites. In addition to transporting meals, Meals on Wheels drivers provide daily check-ins for program participants. Ideal candidate has experience and is interested in working with the elderly and disabled individuals.

· Performs delivery of meals on the Meals on Wheels program; maintains daily log sheet of delivered meals; reports any unusual client status to site manager/case manager.

· Performs delivery of meals to congregate sites; maintains daily log of meals and delivery temperatures

· Maintains accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that are requested from management. Inspects and reports on any vehicle maintenance and repairs. Ensures vehicle is kept neat and clean.

· Performs a variety of duties to assist with meal preparation, meals service and clean up.

· Assists in routine sanitation, including cleaning and maintaining equipment, food preparation and storage areas.

· Work other related senior activities within the kitchen facility or offsite as necessary.

· Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk at will, stoop, climb stairs, climb in and out of a vehicle and lift/carry objects up to 50 pounds.

· Performs such other duties as may be required by the Senior Nutrition Coordinator or President/CEO.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Diploma or GED; experience driving a bus or van preferred, experience working in a community kitchen setting; any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

· Must be 18 years of age or older.

· All applicants must have a current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance or must pass fingerprint clearance and Central Registry background check. Continuance of employment will be dependent upon successful clearance.

· Must have basic computer skills and be proficient in using smartphones for communication and work-related tasks.

· A valid AZ Driver’s License and a 36-month driving record.

· Motor driving record must meet driver standards as established by Agency’s insurance.

· Must be able to obtain a Pinal County Health Department Food Handler's permit within 30 days of employment.

· Must be able to effectively develop working relationships with other personnel, clients and the public.

· Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with people of various social, cultural, educational, and ethnic backgrounds.

· Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.

· Must be interested in working with the elderly and disabled individuals.

· Bilingual preferred but not required.

Physical Demands / Work Environment: Work is performed in a commercial kitchen, with risk of burns and cuts; moderate physical demands with frequent standing, lifting, carrying, and moving up to 40 pounds of food, materials and equipment.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
