What are the responsibilities and job description for the Store Supervisor position at Centerville Paint & Hardware?
Overview
We are seeking a dependable Store Supervisor to help lead our paint and hardware team. In this role, you will serve as a vital link between our regular sales associates and the management team. You aren’t just overseeing the floor; you are driving daily operations, mentoring staff, and ensuring every customer leaves with the exact tools and advice they need. If you are a fast learner with a "lead by example" mentality who thrives in a hands-on environment, we want to talk to you.
Core Responsibilities
- Floor Operations & Leadership: Serve as the primary shift leader on the sales floor. Manage opening and closing procedures, secure the building, and ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently.
- Team Guidance: Supervise and support Sales Associates during your shift. Assist in training team members on product knowledge, customer service standards, and specialized tasks like paint tinting and key cutting.
- Customer Experience: Act as the escalation point for customer inquiries on the floor, resolving issues professionally to ensure a premium shopping experience for DIYers and contractors alike.
- Merchandising & Inventory: Monitor floor stock levels, delegate restocking tasks, and ensure the sales floor remains clean, organized, and properly merchandised.
- Technical Proficiency: Master and oversee the daily use of paint tinting systems, POS software, and hardware-specific machinery, assisting associates when technical issues arise.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure the floor team adheres to all store policies and safety protocols, maintaining a safe environment for both staff and customers.
Qualifications
- Leadership Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a retail environment with demonstrated leadership capabilities (e.g., as a shift lead, senior associate, or coordinator).
- Keyholder Experience: Proven reliability in handling store openings, closings, and cash-handling procedures.
- Retail & Service Excellence: Strong background in retail operations with a track record of delivering exceptional, hands-on customer service.
- Technical Adaptability: A proven ability to learn new systems and products quickly (from paint mixing to hardware specifications).
- Communication & Problem-Solving: Clear verbal communication skills and the ability to think on your feet to resolve floor issues in a fast-paced environment.
Note: Experience in the painting, contracting, or hardware industry is a significant plus, but it is not required for a candidate with strong leadership fundamentals and a fast learning curve.
