Position: Gas Utility As-Built Technician 

Location: Johnstown, Colorado

Exempt (salary) or nonexempt (hourly) position: Nonexempt (hourly)

Full-time position

Pay: $28 to $34 based on experience and qualifications

Hours: Monday-Friday 7am to 5pm, with overtime and additional days as project requires. 

Summary

• Update and maintain as-built records for gas distribution and transmission facilities.
• Review construction work orders, service records, field sketches, and engineering drawings.
• Verify the accuracy of installed gas mains, services, valves, regulators, and related assets.
• Coordinate with construction crews, inspectors, engineers, and project managers to resolve discrepancies.
• Research and analyze utility records to ensure data integrity.
• Maintain documentation in accordance with company, regulatory, and safety requirements.
• Assist with mapping corrections and record audits.
• Ensure all records are completed and submitted to client within established timelines.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in GIS, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
• Experience with utility mapping, drafting, GIS, or record management preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, utility maps, and construction plans.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license may be required.

• Knowledge of natural gas distribution systems and utility construction practices.
• Understanding of pipeline mapping standards and as-built documentation processes.
• Ability to analyze technical data and identify discrepancies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Commitment to safety, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

• Primarily field-based.
• May be required to work in varying weather conditions during field verification activities.
• Ability to travel locally as needed.
