Job Title: Direct Support Staff

Job Summary:
We are seeking compassionate and motivated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Staff. The role involves providing hands-on assistance and guidance to individuals with disabilities in secure settings. Direct Support Staff will work closely with individuals, their families, and other professionals to promote health, safety, and lifestyle choices that align with person-centered practices.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support, instruction, and physical assistance to clients.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, families, and other team members.
- Facilitate transportation for clients to medical appointments and community activities within established timeframes.
- Assist with developing household management skills, including meal preparation, cooking, and light housekeeping.
- Advocate for clients and serve as a liaison with community resources.
- Promote community integration and support clients in building healthy relationships.
- Plan and execute daily activities based on individual needs and program goals.
- Provide training and assistance with grocery shopping, money management, personal hygiene, mobility training, and budgeting.
- Help clients understand and exercise their rights and responsibilities.
- Use personal or public transportation to support clients as needed.
- Uphold responsible work habits, including punctuality and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid CA driver’s license with a clean driving record (past 5 years).
- Proof of vehicle liability insurance and car registration.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, physical examination, and TB test.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of community resources and independent living skills training.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Prior experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral, or forensic needs (1 year preferred).
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within the first 90 days of hire).
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in supported living care or in-home supportive services.
- Training will be provided for candidates who meet the basic requirements.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
