Position Summary
Direct Care II staff are key members of Centerboard’s Youth Service Campus treatment team. In this role, you’ll support youth in a trauma-informed residential setting by providing structure, supervision, and skill-building. You will help create a safe, supportive environment while teaching healthy coping strategies and responding effectively to behavioral and emotional needs.
Direct Care II staff also provide shift leadership, supervise program operations, and ensure accurate documentation. This is a safety-sensitive position involving driving and medication administration. The hours for this position are Tuesday-Saturday 11pm-7am.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care, supervision, and support to youth during daily activities and programming
- Model and maintain trauma-informed, youth-centered care
- Respond to crises using approved behavior management techniques
- Support and supervise staff and program operations during assigned shifts
- Build positive, healthy relationships with youth, families, and team members
- Teach life skills and support youth in preparation for young adulthood
- Transport youth to school, appointments, court, and community activities
- Prepare meals and maintain a clean, safe residential environment
- Administer and document medications in compliance with MAP requirements
- Complete required safety checks, room searches, fire drills, and drug screenings
- Ensure smooth shift transitions and communicate critical information to on-call staff
Documentation & Compliance
- Accurately document daily interactions, incidents, progress notes, and logs
- Follow all Centerboard policies, treatment plans, IBSPs, and safety plans
- Maintain training requirements and participate in ongoing professional development
Overnight Support
- Conduct 15-minute resident safety checks
- Maintain facility security and cleanliness
- Provide morning transportation as needed
- Remain awake and alert for the entire shift
Qualifications & Competencies
- High school diploma required; college coursework or bachelor’s degree preferred
- MAP Certification required for Direct Care II (Shift Lead)
- Experience working with youth in residential or similar care settings
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; must be willing to use a personal vehicle when agency vehicles are unavailable
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to build healthy relationships and engage youth with professionalism and empathy

Required Skills & Training
- Completion of all required Centerboard trainings, including CPR/First Aid, Trauma-Informed Care, Behavior Management, Protective Interventions, Medication Administration, HIPAA, OSHA, Ethics & Boundaries, and DEI
- Ongoing participation in refresher trainings to maintain certifications and skill competency
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment
On-Shift Leadership Duties
- Serve as shift lead, supervising staff and program operations
- Model trauma-informed care and positive staff-to-youth interactions
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and on time
- Communicate program updates and concerns during shift transitions
