Key Responsibilities:
Loan Origination: Source and originate new loans and relationships from initial inquiry to loan closing
Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with borrowers, brokers, and other referral sources to generate business and maintain a steady pipeline of loan opportunities: 8MM per month
Underwriting Support: Support the underwriting teams with initial assessment of borrower risk by reviewing financial documents, and evaluating collateral to determine loan terms and risk profiles
Loan Structuring and Negotiation: Work with clients to structure loan terms that meet their needs while aligning with the organization’s lending criteria and profitability goals
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all loans are originated in compliance with relevant regulations, including state and federal lending laws, and internal policies and procedures
Market Expertise: Stay informed about trends in the private lending and real estate markets, competitive offerings, and local regulatory changes that may impact loan origination
Documentation and Closing Support: Guide clients through the loan application process, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed and processed accurately and in a timely manner
The Ideal Candidate:
Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of private lending products, real estate financing, and the loan origination process, including knowledge of underwriting, loan structures, interest rates, and terms typically associated with private loans.
Proven Sales and Business Development Skills: A successful track record of sourcing, originating, and closing loans, particularly in the private lending space. Strong sales skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with borrowers, brokers, and other key stakeholders.
Strong Analytical and Underwriting Abilities: Ability to assess borrower creditworthiness, evaluate collateral, and conduct thorough risk assessments. Comfortable reviewing financial statements, appraisals, and other documentation to make sound lending decisions.
Customer-Centric Approach: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on providing exceptional service to borrowers. Ability to understand clients' needs and offer tailored lending solutions that align with their financial goals
Knowledge of Regulatory Requirements: Familiarity with lending regulations, compliance standards, and best practices, ensuring all loans are originated in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., DRE, DFPI, RESPA, TILA).
Relationship Building and Networking skills: Strong networking skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with real estate agents, mortgage brokers, investors, and other industry professionals to generate business leads and opportunities.
Negotiation Skills: Skilled in negotiating loan terms with borrowers and other parties, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes while maintaining the organization’s lending standards and profitability.
Detail-Oriented and Process-Driven: Ability to manage all aspects of the loan origination process from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in documentation, loan approvals, and compliance checks.
Goal-Oriented and Self-Motivated: Results-driven with the ability to meet or exceed loan origination targets. Highly motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to think critically and creatively to solve problems and find flexible solutions for borrowers, especially in non-traditional or complex lending situations
Compensation:
- Base Wage
- Additional Compensation: 20-35% of Total Origination Fees Collected
- Total Comp: Variable based on Total Funding Volume
