Summary/Objective: The STEM Fellows Program Manager is responsible for the full leadership, management, and expansion of the STEM NOLA STEM Fellows Program. The program is an out-of-school-time experience for 9th–12th grade students designed to develop interest in STEM and to prepare participants for college and career pathways. The Program Manager operates as a standalone leader, overseeing program design, execution, partnerships, student engagement, and performance outcomes. The role also ensures public representation of the program through showcases and media engagements.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
STEM Fellows Program Leadership
- Design and execute a year-long out-of-school STEM Fellows program for high school students
- Ensure consistent, high-quality weekly programming, including enrichment, mentoring, and career exposure
- Maintain alignment of program delivery with organizational standards and objectives
- Oversee program scheduling, structure, and delivery model
Student Engagement & Development
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention of Fellows
- Maintain direct engagement with students and families to ensure participation
- Develop a real relationship with participants and their families to support the desire to excel and gain college and career opportunities.
- Support college and career readiness through mentoring and exposure opportunities
- Track student attendance, performance, and engagement outcomes
Partnership Development
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry, education, and community partners
- Cultivate and Secure partners to deliver STEM experiences, mentorship, and internships
- Coordinate partner participation and engagement cycles
Operations & Performance Management
- Ensure compliance with STEM NOLA SOPs
- Maintain program documentation, including attendance, stipend, and engagement logs
- Coordinate budgets and reporting with upline leader
- Report key performance metrics monthly to the CAO
Public Representation & Media
- Coordinate FOX 8 News segment (and other station features as needed) featuring students and staff
- Prepare participants for public and media appearances
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging
- Actively engage on-camera during weekly news segments, working with the STEM NOLA Communications Team
Staff Supervision
- Supervise interns and support staff assisting with program delivery
- Ensure team readiness for facilitation and execution
Expansion & Replication
- Develop scalable program models for expansion to new communities
- Contribute to program manuals and replication toolkits
- Support pilot launches in new locations
Education, Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM field or related discipline required
- Experience in program management, STEM education, or youth development preferred
- Experience in catering to the needs of high school student development
- Experience building partnerships with industry or education partners preferred
- Ability to design and manage complex programs
- Ability to clearly communicate complex STEM concepts
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage time, multitask, and solve problems
- Ability to interpret and use data effectively
Work Environment & Demands:
- Minimum of 40 hours per week, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and some holiday periods
- Requires availability to work at least one Saturday per month for 4 hours (2nd Saturday of each month)
- Will require some company-sponsored travel (33%)
- Work is performed in a combination of office, remote, and community or event-based environments.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- May involve standing or walking for extended periods while some tasks may require bending, stooping, or reaching.
- Regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and various digital devices.
- Capacity to perform repetitive tasks; read, analyze, and interpret data; maintain visual attention and mental concentration for significant periods of time.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
