Job Summary Seeking candidates for fulfillment of a Visitation Aide for the Sussex/Morris/Passaic County Offices of the Center for Evaluation and Counseling, Inc. (CEC).
The role of the Visitation Aide is to provide parents and/or children transportation to and from agreed upon visit locations. The Visitation Aide will be expected to ensure the safety of passengers and maintain the CEC Supportive Visitation Services (SVS) Program vehicles. Supervision of visits may also be needed. The Visitation Aide will be required to document transportation encounters as well as visits in the appropriate locations. Communication with the SVS Program specialists, parents, resource parents, children, etc., will also be required. The Visitation Aide will be required to attend supervision meetings facilitated by the Regional Coordinator, Visitation Program Director/Forensic & Clinical Coordinator, and Clinical/Program Director.
The Visitation Aide will also be required to travel to CEC offices in Sussex, Morris, and Passaic Counties to provide services when necessary. Afternoon availability is required, and Saturdays as needed.
This position requires a compassionate individual who can effectively manage and children. The Transporter will work closely with social workers, behavioral health professionals, and families.
Duties
- Safely transport children and adolescents to designated appointments while ensuring their comfort and security.
- Monitor and manage behavior during transport, employing crisis intervention techniques as necessary.
- Maintain communication with social workers and other professionals regarding any concerns or incidents that arise during transportation.
- Document all transport activities, including any behavioral issues or emergencies encountered.
- Provide support and encouragement to children during transport, utilizing motivational interviewing techniques to foster positive interactions.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to ensure the well-being of passengers.
- Collaborate with child protective services when necessary to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in a professional setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with children is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with children from diverse backgrounds.
- A prospective candidate will have a Associate’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience with children and families, particularly families involved with the child welfare system and/ or affected by trauma preferred but not required. Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, counseling, or related field will also be considered. Candidates without experience but an ability to demonstrate having completed at least 30 semester hour credits from an accredited college, which must include twelve (12) semester hour credits in the behavioral sciences may be substituted for experience. Experience/willingness to work with culturally diverse populations is necessary. Bilingual candidates preferred. Valid NJ Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract are required
