What are the responsibilities and job description for the In-Home Respite Care Worker position at Center for Disability Services?
UCP-Center for Disability Services is seeking compassionate, dependable individuals to join our team as In-Home Respite Workers. In this rewarding role, you’ll provide person-centered support to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and community settings while giving much-needed relief to their caregivers.

Job Responsibilities
- Provide respite services according to each participant’s Individualized Respite Support Plan and Home Program Plan.
- Assist participants with recreational, social, and community-based activities.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including personal care, feeding, dressing, and mobility, as authorized.
- Implement behavioral support and de-escalation strategies as trained.
- Conduct a visual safety assessment upon arrival at each service location.
- Communicate with caregivers regarding each session.
- Coordinate schedules directly with assigned families.
- Complete required documentation, including contact notes and incident reports.
- Clock in and out using Paylocity.
- Follow all agency policies, HIPAA requirements, and safety procedures.
- Attend required trainings and meetings.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license.
- Reliable transportation and current vehicle insurance.
- Ability to work independently in participants’ homes and community settings.
- Must successfully complete all required background checks.
- CPR/First Aid certification within 60 days of hire.
- Mandated Reporter training prior to first assignment.
