Medical Assistant – Procedure Room / PACU

Our organization is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Procedure Room/PACU team. This role is essential in supporting safe, efficient, and high‑quality care for patients undergoing procedures and post‑anesthesia recovery. This is a full‑time position that includes an every‑other‑weekend rotation.
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) in the Procedure Room/PACU is an integral member of the perioperative team, providing hands‑on clinical support to physicians and nurses throughout the procedural and recovery process. The responsibilities include assisting with patient preparation, supporting procedures, maintaining a sterile and organized environment, and ensuring smooth patient flow from pre‑procedure through recovery. The MA also assists with equipment preparation, room turnover, and instrument sterilization.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Assist clinical staff during procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining room readiness, and supporting patient positioning.
- Provide post‑procedure support in the PACU, including assisting with mobility.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection as required.
- Scan and upload documentation into the electronic medical record (EMR).
Procedure Room & PACU Operations
- Set up, clean, and restock procedure rooms and PACU bays according to infection‑control and safety standards.
- Ensure equipment functions properly and report issues promptly.
- Support patient flow by coordinating transitions between pre‑procedure, procedure, and recovery areas.
- Assist with supply management, including inventory checks and ordering needs.
- Prepare, wash, and sterilize instruments and equipment.
Administrative & Communication Duties
- Support adherence to regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and support staff.
- Provide clear, compassionate communication with patients and families as applicable.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Current MA certification preferred but not required.
- CPR/BLS certification required (or obtained upon hire).
- Prior experience in a procedure room, surgical center, PACU, or similar clinical environment preferred but not required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Schedule
- Full‑time, 40 hours per week.
- Every‑other‑weekend rotation is required.
- Flexibility to support department needs during peak times or staffing shortages.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
