CNC Programmer - High Precision Manufacturing

Location: Fort Worth, TX
Employment Type: 6 months Temp-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Position Summary

The CNC Programmer supports manufacturing operations by developing efficient, accurate, and reliable CNC programs used for machining components, tooling, and sheet metal parts. This position ensures that all machined parts meet dimensional specifications, quality requirements, and throughput performance targets. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong CNC programming expertise, tool selection knowledge, and continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities

CNC Programming & Machining Support

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for numerical control machine tools to produce parts in accordance with manufacturing engineering specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Write machine instruction programs using symbolic language to generate CNC code for direct numerical control databases or control tapes.
  • Evaluate part designs and determine machining strategy by computing angular/linear dimensions, radii, cutter paths, and machining sequences.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and design data to determine dimensions, tolerances, tooling, feed rates, and cutting speeds.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools and machining parameters while accounting for material properties, tool performance, machine capabilities, and quality requirements.
  • Create geometric layouts and part features using CAD/CAM software (Esprit CAM experience preferred).

Program Validation & Optimization

  • Conduct first-piece program prove-outs, monitoring machine operation during trial runs to validate and refine code accuracy.
  • Compare encoded instructions with program sheets and specifications to ensure machining results meet required tolerances and part conformity.
  • Modify existing programs for engineering changes, continuous improvement updates, or to correct omissions and inefficiencies.

Continuous Improvement & Technical Contribution

  • Support production and engineering teams in implementing improved methods, tooling solutions, and machining strategies.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and contribute to ongoing cost reduction and efficiency improvement projects.
  • Maintain current knowledge of CNC programming practices, machining technology, tooling advances, and relevant software systems.

Team & Operational Support

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with machinists, engineers, and production personnel to troubleshoot issues and resolve machining variances.
  • Support cross-functional projects and special assignments as needed.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a vocational training program, technical certificate, or Associate’s Degree in CNC Programming, Machining Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of CNC programming experience, with demonstrated ability to independently support CNC operations.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD/CAM software (Esprit CAM experience strongly preferred).

Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of machining processes, cutting tool selection, speeds/feeds optimization, and geometric tolerancing.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, detailed drawings, sketches, and engineering specifications.
  • Familiarity with CNC machine operations, setup methodology, and G-code verification.

Professional Skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement capability.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to cross-train and support multiple manufacturing priorities.
