This position plays a critical role in ensuring mission-critical product reliability, regulatory compliance, and workmanship excellence across aerospace and defense systems.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Verification

  • Perform detailed visual, mechanical, and dimensional inspections of electronic assemblies, PCBs, cables, connectors, and subassemblies to ensure conformance with engineering drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102, ensuring accurate documentation and traceability.
  • Inspect solder joints, component placement, polarity, lead trimming, labeling, and workmanship in compliance with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
  • Inspect wiring harnesses and cable assemblies in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 requirements.
  • Execute receiving, in-process, and final inspections of electronic and electro-mechanical products to verify compliance with aerospace quality standards.
  • Inspect conformal coating, staking, bonding, and encapsulation processes to ensure proper application, coverage, and cure integrity.

Documentation & Quality Control

  • Accurately record inspection results, test data, and traceability information within the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Identify, document, and report nonconformances (NCRs); support root cause analysis and verification of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review Certificates of Conformance (CoC), supplier documentation, and incoming inspection records to ensure full material and process traceability.
  • Support internal and external audits, including AS9100, ISO 9001, customer, and regulatory audits, as required.

Technical & Process Support

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical specifications.
  • Utilize inspection and verification equipment including microscopes, magnification tools, calipers, pin gauges, multimeters, continuity testers, and other electrical/mechanical inspection tools.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve inspection discrepancies and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide actionable feedback to manufacturing teams related to workmanship, rework requirements, and process or design improvements.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure strict adherence to ESD controls, FOD prevention, and electrostatic-sensitive material handling procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant inspection workspace consistent with aerospace and defense manufacturing standards.
  • Follow all company, customer, and regulatory safety, quality, and ethical policies at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience as an Electronics Quality Inspector or Quality Inspector within the Aerospace, Defense, or High-Reliability Electronics Manufacturing industry.
  • Hands-on experience inspecting PCBAs, CCAs, cable/harness assemblies, and electro-mechanical units to IPC and AS9100 standards.

Professional Attributes

  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational discipline.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills in cross-functional manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in high-mix, low-volume production settings.
  • Demonstrated integrity, reliability, and commitment to quality excellence.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work performed in a controlled ESD or cleanroom manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform microscope-based inspections.
