PURPOSE OF POSITION: 

The Lead Electrical and Control Engineer is a technical leader responsible for the design, development, specification, implementation, documentation, and support of electrical and control systems for mobile and stationary volumetric proportioning mixing equipment. This role owns both hardware and software aspects of machine controls, including low- and high-voltage power systems for DC and AC electrical systems, embedded and PLC-based programming control architectures, and safety-critical designs.

This position serves as the technical authority for electrical and controls engineering, leading system architecture decisions, ensuring compliance with applicable standards (including ISO, ASTM, CE, NEC, and UL 508a), and providing mentorship and guidance to other engineers and cross-functional teams. The Lead Electrical and Control Engineer will play a critical role in advancing product innovation, capability, reliability, and manufacturability while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

More specifically, this person will:

• Lead the design and development of electrical and control systems for industrial equipment, including schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, communications, motor controls, and system architectures.
• Design and integrate power distribution systems including 12VDC, 24VDC, single-phase AC, three-phase AC up to 575VAC.

• Create and review technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installations and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.

• Develop, maintain, and support control system software, primarily using CoDeSys, for machine operation, automation, diagnostics, and safety functions.

• Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
• Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications. 
• Develop budgets, estimating labor, material, and construction costs for new/modified equipment.
• Setup and testing of new design systems for functional and operational acceptance.
• Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and machines.  
• Entry of parts and Bill of Materials (BOM) into ERP computer system. 

• Serve as the UL 508a technical owner, ensuring designs, documentation, and manufacturing processes meet certification requirements and supporting audits and inspections.
• Act as the technical lead for electrical and controls engineering, providing design reviews, technical direction, and problem resolution for complex issues.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical engineering, sales, manufacturing, quality, and service teams to ensure seamless system integration and support.
• Define and enforce electrical design standards, best practices, and documentation requirements across products and projects.
• Support new product development from concept through release, including prototyping, validation testing, and design for manufacturability.
• Evaluate and select electrical components, control hardware, and suppliers to meet performance, cost, and reliability targets.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, control, and software issues during development, production, and customer field operation.
• Provide technical support and guidance for field service issues, service diagnostics, and root-cause analysis.

EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS 

• BS in Engineering, preferably in the field of electrical, electronics, or controls 
• 5 years of experience in related field
• Solid knowledge of electrical and control engineering principals. 
• Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience creating industrial or mobile machinery controls.
• Experience with AC control system design. 
• Auto CAD systems, Solid Works, Microsoft Office.
• CoDeSys control programming language and graphical user interface creation.
