Position Overview:
Celtic Marine and Logistics is seeking a highly experienced Senior Operations Manager or General Manager to lead daily operations and drive performance across our brokerage division. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker who can manage multiple challenges simultaneously, make sound decisions under pressure, and foster a strong, communicative team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage day-to-day brokerage operations
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 7 operations personnel
- Handle personnel-related matters including performance management, coaching, and conflict resolution
- Maintain full responsibility for P&L performance, cost control, and profitability
- Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers and customers
- Ensure efficient freight coverage and service execution across all lanes
- Make quick, accurate decisions in a fast-paced logistics environment
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and internal teams
- Promote a culture of open communication with a clear open-door policy
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years experience in a freight brokerage firm
- Strong background in:
- Flatbed freight
- Dry van
- Liquid tank (chemicals)
- Steel, aluminum, and pipe
- Aggregates
- Proven leadership experience managing teams
- Demonstrated expertise in negotiation and problem-solving
- Strong understanding of logistics operations and market dynamics
- Experience managing P&L and operational performance metrics
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and high-pressure situations
