Location: Fully Remote, in the US, ability to work EST
Type: Part time contract / Mon - Fri from 10am - 12:30pm and then 2:30pm - 5pm EST
Compensation Range: $28-$33/hr W2
We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly skilled Proofreader to ensure all written materials meet the highest standards of quality, accuracy, readability, and brand consistency. In this role, you will review and refine content to ensure it is error-free, grammatically accurate, factually sound, and aligned with established brand tone and voice guidelines.
The ideal candidate has strong editing and proofreading skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage deadlines independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. A basic understanding of our clients’ businesses and challenges is also essential, enabling you to review content not only for accuracy and consistency but also for clarity, relevance, and impact.

Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Editing
- Read and comment on advertising and promotional projects to verify:
- Accuracy of spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and context.
- Accuracy of references, web addresses, phone numbers, and other data.
- Compliance with brand guidelines.
- Correct usage and presentation of company/brand trademarks and logos.
- Consistency and accuracy of layout components (spacing, capitalization, etc.)
- Overall continuity, consistency, clarity, and presentation.
- Proofread design and copywriting projects across a variety of print and digital mediums.
- Ensure all client, legal, and compliance annotations are correctly interpreted and addressed.
- Follow a style checklist to ensure consistency in trademarks, hyphenation, capitalization, formatting of references, etc.
- Provide formal proofreading signoff on projects at final release.
- Maintain strict adherence to deadlines.
- Create and update proofreading best practices and consultation guides.
- Adhere to departmental standard operating procedures and workflows.
- Actively learn new techniques to improve proofreading proficiency.
- Leverage research and data to inform proofreading executions.
- Apply a pragmatic approach to proofreading while keeping project objectives in mind.
- Embrace every project as an opportunity to make an impact.
- Understand clients' products, audiences, and business objectives to ensure copy is accurate and effective.
- Interact with project managers to resolve issues, negotiate revisions, and verify information.
- Communicate clearly and promptly with managers and studio staff.
- Closely collaborate with designers.
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in English or Journalism.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional-level proofreading experience required.
- External or in-house agency experience.
- Healthcare/medical experience preferred, or experience in another highly regulated industry.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Style & Markup: Proficient in AP and/or Chicago Manual of Style, standard proofreading marks, and proofreading applications in multichannel marketing.
- Outstanding quality control practices.
- Ability to project-manage and traffic personal workload.
- Strong verbal communication to state opinions clearly and describe the purpose of edits.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Highly organized with strong multitasking skills.
- Excellent eye for detail and consistency.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Collaborative team player with excellent relationship-building skills.
- Adept at embracing and consistently deploying brand voice and tone.
