Summary of Role
CIG is seeking a Procurement Manager to oversee sourcing and procurement of large-scale equipment and materials required for data center development projects. This role will be responsible for vendor management, contract negotiation, and ensuring timely delivery of mission-critical infrastructure such as electrical gear, cooling systems, backup power, and other core equipment essential to data center operations.
The ideal candidate will combine deep procurement expertise with strong knowledge of commercial construction and large-scale capital projects, ensuring cost efficiency, quality standards, and alignment with project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Procurement Management: Lead the sourcing, bidding, and procurement of large-scale equipment and materials for data center projects.
- Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors to ensure reliable supply and performance.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and service agreements with vendors while ensuring risk management and compliance.
- Category Expertise: Focus on mission-critical equipment categories such as power distribution, cooling systems, switchgear, UPS, generators, and prefabricated components.
- Project Alignment: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to align procurement schedules with construction milestones.
- Cost Control & Budgeting: Develop procurement budgets, track spend, and deliver savings through competitive sourcing strategies.
- Change & Risk Management: Monitor market conditions, supply chain risks, and lead times; implement contingency plans as needed.
- Document Control: Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, and vendor performance in alignment with internal policies and project reporting standards.
- Compliance & ESG: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company standards, legal requirements, and sustainability goals.
Required Experience
- 7 years of procurement experience, with at least 3 years in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in sourcing and negotiating for capital equipment and mission-critical systems.
- Experience with procurement systems and tools
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex procurement packages in parallel.
- Excellent contract management, vendor relationship, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to assess risks and make data-driven decisions.
- Familiarity with data center development, commercial real estate, or industrial construction highly preferred.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
- PMP, CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), or other relevant certifications are a plus.
