Description
Cedar Springs Public Schools is in need of a Student Success and Academic Support Coordinator starting with the 2026-2027 school year. The assignment is at Cedar Springs High School. We are excited to engage with quality candidates that are friendly, organized, self-motivated problem solvers and enjoy working in a team environment meeting the individual needs of students through our MTSS structure.
Responsibilities:
• Owner of positive behavior intervention
- develop authentic relationships via Moments of Genuine Connection to ensure Every Student Known.
- lead PBIS (i.e. more exemplars of the culture we seek & positive competitions/celebrations to better empower student ownership)
- connect the “3rd leg of the stool” w/ frequent calls home
- assist w/ re-entry meetings
- Collaborate with Dean of Students about on-going discipline consequences
- address, finalize log entries, & assign lower to mid-level consequences (please be sure to email all “3 legs of the stool” to close the loop & control the narrative - the educator(s), parents, student, & office team should be blind copied on the email stating the offense & consequences)
• Owner of RtI Scheduler/SOAR Time Lead
- set schedule in RTI
- student tags
- student placements- cross-check PS grades with triangles in RTI for accurate placements during SOAR days.
- teacher sessions
- schedule communication to students and teachers
- follow up with teachers and students re: sessions being created or attended
- Ensure students are where they are supposed to be
Online Learning Mentor
- maintain attendance records for online courses
- assign online courses via Michigan Virtual and Edmentum
- monitor & lead sign-out process
- supervise Early Middle College students on “off-days”
- connect the “3rd leg of the stool” with information about course progress, attendance, & engagement
Truancy
- Co-leader of truancy
- communicate with “3 legs of the stool”
- AIP meetings when scheduled before/after school
Owner of tardy tracking & consequences
- pull weekly report from PS & assign detentions/ISS via emails to parents & kids
- send email for 3 tardies in any 1 class (i.e. Heads Up Email & document in PowerSchool)
- meet with students in person with 4 or more tardies in any one class,
- assign consequence
- document in the Consequences Document
- complete PS log
- contact parents, via email or phone call, whichever is appropriate
- send email to student, appropriate teachers, other admin., parents, caseworkers when appropriate.
- PowerSchool sends robocall & email when tardy is uploaded by Educator
Detention/After School Work Service/In-School Suspension Lead
- detention/after school work service/I.S.S. lead
- organize GoogleSheet
- ensure follow-through & progressive consequences
- organize & collaborate w/ detention supervisors (i.e. Mrs. Ramm)
- ISS supervisor
- supervise after-school work service
Other Responsibilities and Supports (as needed)
- approx. 7:00am arrival & 3:30pm departure each day (w/ flexibility)

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate required
- Valid Administration certificate preferred, but not required
- Minimum qualification:
- Earned 60 semester credit hours from an institution of higher education, or
- Earned an Associate’s degree or higher, or
- Successfully complete an approved formal assessment
- Restorative Practice training preferred - but not required
- CPI training preferred - but not required
- Trauma-informed training, preferred - but not required
- Understanding of behavioral characteristics associated with behavior disorders
- Experience with providing guidance, motivating, and/or mentoring students required
- Experience and knowledge of quality instruction and classroom management
- Establishes positive relationships with students, parents, and school personnel
- Ability to communicate well at various levels with students, parents, and school personnel
- Evidence of a positive attitude and human relation skills
- Evidence of high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in personal and professional matters
- High level of flexibility
- Strong work ethic
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
START DATE: 8/24/2026
SCHEDULE: 8 hours per day as determined by the building principal
SALARY RANGE: $58,879 - $70,654

We are located within the city limits of Cedar Springs, Michigan in Kent County.
