About the Job
CDS Home Services is seeking an experienced Master Electrician to join our team. This is a leadership role reporting directly to the President and CEO and can drive real impact to the business results.
The ideal candidate is a builder: someone who creates repeatable systems, develops talent, and understands the importance of running a field team for success. You will lead a team of 8–12 field employees ranging from apprentices to journeymen, serve as license of record enabling CDS to pull permits across four states, and act as a technical authority in the sales and estimating process.
Essential Job Functions / Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Technical Oversight
- Ensure all work is completed to code, safely, and to the highest quality standards across MD, PA, VA, and DE.
- Conduct field inspections and quality assurance checks on completed installations.
- Lead team in diagnosing and resolving complex electrical issues escalated.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a field team of 8–12 employees, through managing to clear performance expectations, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous growth.
- Create repeatable standard operating procedures — systematizing work to drive business results.
- Champion a positive, team-oriented work environment that reflects CDS’s values, and develops its employees.
Sales Support & Estimating
- Partner with the field estimator to conduct site assessments and develop accurate, competitive estimates; acting as technical expertise during customer consultations as needed.
- Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities in the field that aligns with customer needs.
- Support the development of pricing and scoping standards to improve estimate accuracy and protect margin.
Operational Excellence & Margin Management
- Contribute to operational process improvements that enhance margin, productivity and customer satisfaction.
- Track job estimate-versus-actual; identify variances, close gaps, and implement corrective action with urgency.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and company safety standards.
- Drive attach rate, first-time fix rate, completion quality, and rework metrics with a bias for accountability and measurable outcomes
Qualifications & Certifications
Licenses & Certifications
- Active Master Electrician license required in Maryland
- Willingness to test in PA
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Generac and/or Kohler factory certification preferred; willingness to obtain required.
Experience
- Hands-on estimating and job costing: track estimate vs. actual and takes ownership of margin performance.
- Proven field leadership: has run crews of licensed electricians and apprentices.
- Track record building or scaling a trades operation — ideally in a small business environment where wearing multiple hats was the norm.
Travel
Frequent travel is expected for this position at an average of 60-75% on road travel throughout Maryland, Eastern Pennsylvania, Northern Virginia, and Delaware.

Compensation:
Total compensation $105,000-125,000 which is achieved through a combination of base pay and variable bonus compensation.
