Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled CNC Plasma Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC plasma cutting machines to produce precise sheet metal components. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, blueprint reading, and quality inspection to ensure high standards are maintained. The CNC Plasma Operator will play a critical role in fabricating parts with accuracy and efficiency, supporting the overall production workflow.
Duties
- Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting machines, ensuring proper calibration and alignment for each job
- Program CNC laser cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, and other related equipment using CAD/CAM software
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications to produce parts accurately
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery including tooling changes and troubleshooting equipment issues
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, precision measuring instruments, and visual checks to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts, cranes, press brake machines, stamping presses, and hand tools as needed
- Maintain safety standards by adhering to electrical discharge machining protocols and proper handling of sheet metal and fabrication materials
- Document production activities and inspect finished products for defects or deviations from specifications
- Collaborate with team members in fabrication, assembly, and quality assurance processes to meet production deadlines
Qualifications
- Proven experience with CNC plasma cutting and related manufacturing machinery such as CNC laser cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, stamping press, press brake machine, welding, and electrical discharge machining
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- Proficiency in CNC programming using CAD/CAM software tools
- Familiarity with GD&T principles for precision measurement and quality inspection
- Ability to operate hand tools, tooling equipment, forklifts, cranes, and other fabrication machinery safely
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes including machining, stamping, welding, and assembly
- Experience with quality control tools such as calipers, micrometers, micrometer gauges, and other precision measuring instruments
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations involved in machining operations
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety standards and attention to detail
