Semi-Local CDL-A Truck Driver

Job Description:
The Drive United Group is hiring CDL-A Semi-Local Truck Drivers for a dedicated account based near Tipp City, OH. This is a full-time position offering consistent freight, competitive earnings, frequent home time, and a stable schedule.
Drivers will operate dedicated routes delivering freight to retail stores and distribution centers throughout Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. This position includes a combination of local and regional runs, with drivers typically spending 2–3 nights away from home each week.
What You'll Do

• Safely operate a Class A tractor-trailer on dedicated routes.
• Deliver freight to retail stores and distribution centers.
• Complete vendor backhaul pickups as assigned.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintain accurate electronic logs and shipping documentation.
• Follow all DOT, FMCSA, and company safety regulations.
• Communicate professionally with dispatch, customers, and management.
• Provide excellent customer service while representing the company.

Schedule

• Semi-local position
• Start time: Approximately 2:00 AM
• Two consecutive days off each week
• Weekend work may be required based on the assigned schedule
• Drivers are typically away from home 2–3 nights per week
• Frequent home time
• Drivers may be scheduled to work certain holidays that fall on their regular work schedule

Salary
Average Annual Earnings: $84,000–$90,000
Mileage Pay
Regional Routes (Approximately 75% of Loads)

• $0.63 per mile starting rate
• $0.645 per mile after 1 year
• $0.66 per mile after 3 years
• $20 stop pay

Local Routes (Approximately 25% of Loads)

• $0.725 per mile starting rate
• $0.735 per mile after 1 year
• $0.745 per mile after 3 years
• $30 stop pay

Additional Compensation

• $30 backhaul pickup pay
• $25 per hour breakdown pay (after applicable waiting period, subject to employer policy)
• $20 per hour safety and hourly pay
• $100 weekly attendance/reliability incentive (subject to employer requirements)
• Safety bonus opportunities

Job Summary

Drivers will deliver freight to retail locations throughout Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin while operating primarily on dedicated routes. This position offers frequent home time, consistent freight, and activity-based compensation.
Essential Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle.
• Deliver freight to retail locations.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Comply with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
• Complete electronic logs and delivery documentation.
• Pick up scheduled backhaul freight.
• Perform drop-and-hook operations when assigned.
• Provide professional customer service.

Freight Information

• Dedicated retail freight
• No-touch freight
• Approximately 85% drop-and-hook
• Store deliveries and backhaul pickups
• Average of approximately 4 stops per load
• Shuttle movements between distribution centers as assigned

Equipment

• Single-bunk sleeper tractors
• 45-foot, 48-foot, and 53-foot dry van trailers
• Refrigerated trailers when assigned

Company equipment remains at the account during home time.
Operating Area
Drivers operate throughout:

• Ohio
• Michigan
• Indiana
• Illinois (suburban Chicago area; no downtown Chicago deliveries)
• Wisconsin

Job Requirements:

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
• Minimum of 3 months of Class A commercial driving experience
• Ability to meet DOT qualification requirements
• Ability to obtain a Hazmat endorsement within 90 days of hire (reimbursement available according to employer policy)
• Reliable attendance and safe driving record
• Strong customer service and communication skills
