Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive classroom instruction on commercial driving techniques, safety protocols, and industry regulations
- Conduct hands-on training sessions for students in tractor-trailers, including manual transmission and air brake systems
- Assess student progress through evaluations, practical demonstrations, and feedback sessions
- Ensure all training activities adhere to federal and state Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and safety guidelines
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and certification progress
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages questions, engagement, and continuous improvement
- Stay current with industry best practices, licensing requirements, and updates to trucking regulations
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no restrictions.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on tractor-trailers and manual transmissions
- Prior experience in commercial driving instruction or teaching adults is highly preferred but not required
- Strong knowledge of trucking safety procedures, DOT regulations, and industry standards
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage adult learners
- Ability to demonstrate safe driving practices and provide constructive feedback to students
