We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor / Writer to join our dynamic dealership team. The ideal candidate will serve as the key point of contact between customers and our service department, ensuring a seamless experience from vehicle intake to service completion. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to upsell services effectively. Prior dealership experience and automotive service management skills are highly preferred. The Service Advisor / Writer will be responsible for accurately diagnosing customer needs, preparing estimates, and coordinating repairs with our skilled technicians to deliver exceptional service.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and professionally, establishing rapport and understanding their vehicle concerns.
- Write detailed service descriptions and prepare accurate estimates using auto estimating tools.
- Communicate effectively with customers about recommended repairs, maintenance services, and additional upselling opportunities such as transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, suspension, tire service, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, air brake systems, alignment, auto body repair, and other automotive diagnostics.
- Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of services.
- Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, services performed, and parts used.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and process payments efficiently.
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and promote repeat business.
- Stay informed about the latest automotive repair techniques and dealership service offerings to provide expert advice.
- Assist in managing the flow of work within the service department to maximize efficiency.
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or auto service management background is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Experience with auto estimating software and service writing is essential.
- Ability to upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire rotations, alignments, suspension work, brake repairs, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts replacements, air brake systems, transmissions, and auto body repairs.
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with sales ability to recommend appropriate repairs confidently.
- Familiarity with automotive repair processes including auto body repair and automobile sales is a plus.
- Effective communication skills for explaining technical issues in an understandable manner.
