Pave Screed Operator

JOB PURPOSE:

• Operate and maintain the screed on an asphalt paver, ensuring a smooth, uniform asphalt surface by adjusting the screed’s angle and depth, working closely with the paver operator to achieve quality paving.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Operate the screed controls to adjust the angle and depth to achieve a uniform application of asphalt
• Monitor the paving process to identify and address any issues that may arise
• Work closely with the paver operator to maintain a consistent head of material
• Check for mat thickness, grade, and quality specifications
• Ensure the asphalt surface meets the required standards and specifications
• Perform pre-start inspections and maintenance procedures on the screed and paver
• Identify and report any mechanical issues or needed repairs
• Communicate with the paver operator, foreman, and superintendent to ensure smooth paving operations
• Understand asphalt paving processes, including prep work, grades, drainage, and compaction
• Assist with shoveling, clean-up, and other tasks needed

REQUIREMENTS:

·         Ability to operate and maintain asphalt paving equipment

·         Strong understanding of asphalt paving techniques and specifications

·         Attention to detail and ability to work accurately

·         Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions

·         Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
