What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Estimator position at CCS Construction Staffing?
We are seeking an experienced Estimator in the Wilmington, NC area. We are a strong general contractor throughout the Southeast and looking to add to our Civil Division. We have won many awards for culture and quality of work - our reputation is our number 1 asset!
What you will be doing:
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Prepare estimates by calculating the complete takeoff of scope of work.
- Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
- Utilize HCSS estimating software to develop a comprehensive project estimate and ability to participate in the management of the estimate.
- Communicate with vendors in support of quotations.
- Review plans and specifications and recommend best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
- Identify, assess, and find ways to mitigate project risks.
- Provide leadership, training, and mentoring to junior estimating staff.
What you need for this position:
- 5 years of estimating experience and/or related project management training with large highway projects.
- MUST have a working knowledge of NCDOT standards and specifications.
- Proficient experience with Bluebeam is required.
- HCSS Heavy Bid experience and/or related software for pricing work is required.
