CCARC, Inc. is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. We are seeking compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our Residential Program team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Responsibilities
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with participants, families, guardians, DDS, healthcare providers, and internal teams.
- Observe and report physical or behavioral changes in participants, maintaining accurate documentation.
- Assist with personal care, hygiene, and treatments, including medication administration and vital sign monitoring.
- Educate and support participants in personal hygiene, grooming, and social conduct.
- Coordinate and lead recreational and social activities, shopping trips, and safe transportation.
- Perform general housekeeping duties, including laundry and maintaining a clean, safe living environment.
- Support nutritional needs by monitoring meals and adhering to individual food consistency guidelines.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow emergency procedures.
- Manage and record household and individual funds in accordance with CCARC policies.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve challenges.
- Follow all safety protocols, including universal precautions, OSHA standards, and infection control procedures.
- Maintain reliable attendance and participate in required in-services, staff meetings, and training sessions.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be fluent in American Sign Language
- Valid Connecticut Driver’s License must be insurable under the agency’s carrier
- Individual Home Support employees must have a personal vehicle and maintain adequate insurance
- Completion of CCARC’s Employee Training Program
- Willingness to become certified in CPR, First Aid, PMT (Psychological/Physical Management Training), and DDS Medication Administration (if not already certified)
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Experience with Microsoft Office, email, and Therap documentation system preferred
