Inventory Operations Manager
Location: Charlotte, NC
Compensation: $80,000 – $90,000 Base Salary
Shift Requirement: Initial first shift for onboarding and training, transitioning to second shift after the first few months
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Inventory Operations Manager to lead and oversee all inbound and outbound inventory activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate inventory control, efficient material flow, strong warehouse execution, and reliable support for production and customer fulfillment.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives on the shop floor, builds strong team accountability, and drives continuous improvement in warehouse and inventory operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end inbound and outbound inventory operations, including receiving, put-away, staging, picking, packing, and shipping.
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse, inventory, and material handling teams to achieve operational excellence.
- Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Partner closely with Production, Purchasing, Planning, Quality, and Shipping teams to ensure material availability and smooth workflow.
- Monitor daily operations, including labor utilization, workflow efficiency, and shipping priorities to prevent bottlenecks.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, quality requirements, and documentation procedures.
- Support ERP/WMS transactions and ensure accurate, timely system updates.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement sustainable process improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in warehouse organization, 5S, safety, and overall operational performance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient warehouse environment.
Qualifications
- Prior leadership experience in warehouse, inventory, logistics, materials management, or operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of inbound and outbound logistics and inventory control processes.
- Proven experience with cycle counting, inventory accuracy, material flow, receiving, and shipping operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience using ERP or WMS systems for inventory management.
- Willingness to work first shift initially and transition to second shift after training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting production in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Prior experience managing or supporting second-shift operations.
- Forklift certification and material handling safety experience.
