Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
Performance & Optimization
- Analyze and optimize complex SQL queries and workloads to ensure efficient resource utilization and cost management.
- Monitor and tune Snowflake compute resources (warehouses) for optimal performance.
- Implement best practices for data modeling, partitioning, clustering, and indexing.
Security & Governance
- Manage user roles, access controls, and data masking policies to ensure compliance with internal and external security standards.
- Collaborate with InfoSec and compliance teams to enforce data governance policies.
- Audit and monitor data access and usage patterns to detect anomalies and ensure data protection.
Database Hygiene & Maintenance
- Maintain clean and organized schemas, tables, and views across environments.
- Implement automated routines for purging obsolete data, archiving, and metadata management.
- Ensure consistency and reliability of data pipelines and integrations with Snowflake.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to support data initiatives.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs and data team members.
- Stay current with Snowflake features, updates, and industry trends to continuously improve platform capabilities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Snowflake DBA or in a similar role managing cloud-based data platforms.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and performance tuning techniques.
- Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture, including virtual warehouses, storage layers, and caching mechanisms.
- Experience with data security frameworks and compliance standards.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools and data integration frameworks.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- SnowPro Certification (Core or Advanced).
- Experience with automation tools (e.g., dbt, Terraform).
- Knowledge of other cloud platforms (AWS) and their integration with Snowflake.
- Scripting experience in Python or Shell for administrative tasks.
