What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wireless Network Engineer position at CBTS?
Wireless Network Design & Architecture
• Design and architect scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise wireless solutions using Cisco 9800 Series Wireless LAN Controllers (physical, virtual, and cloud-managed).
• Perform wireless site surveys, capacity planning, RF modeling, and interference analysis for new and existing deployments.
• Establish and maintain wireless design standards, best practices, and configuration templates.
Implementation & Configuration
• Lead end-to-end deployment of Cisco wireless solutions including:
o Cisco 9800 WLC installation and initial setup
o Access point provisioning, tagging (policy, site, RF), and profiling
o WLAN, policy, and QoS configuration
• Implement advanced wireless features such as:
o 802.1X / EAP authentication
o Cisco ISE integration
o Guest access, BYOD, and segmentation
o Fast roaming (802.11r/k/v), band steering, and RRM
• Configure high availability, redundancy, and failover for wireless controllers.
Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center)
• Perform complete installation and configuration of Cisco Catalyst Center appliances (single-node and multi-node clusters).
• Integrate Catalyst Center with enterprise systems (Active Directory, ISE, NTP, SNMP, Syslog).
• Use Catalyst Center for:
o Network discovery and device onboarding
o Software image management (SWIM)
o Network configuration automation and templating
o Assurance, analytics, and wireless health monitoring
o Wireless Intrusion reporting and support.
• Support day-to-day operations using Catalyst Center for troubleshooting, reporting, and lifecycle management.
Operations & Support
• Provide Tier 2/3 operational support for enterprise wireless networks, including root-cause analysis and performance optimization.
• Troubleshoot complex wireless, RF, and mobility issues across large-scale environments.
• Perform software upgrades, patches, and maintenance on wireless controllers, access points, and Catalyst Center.
• Monitor wireless performance, availability, and capacity using Cisco tools and third-party monitoring solutions.
• Develop and maintain operational runbooks, diagrams, and technical documentation.
Security & Compliance
• Ensure wireless infrastructure complies with security standards and corporate policies.
• Implement and manage wireless security controls, including WPA3, network segmentation, and identity-based access.
• Respond to wireless security incidents and vulnerabilities.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert for wireless technologies.
• Mentor L1 ENOC and other Network Engineers.
• Collaborate with network, security, and infrastructure teams on enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Participate in change management and architecture review boards.
• Effectively collaborate/ communicate with internal or external customers.
Required Qualifications
• 5 years of experience designing and supporting enterprise wireless networks.
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco 9800 Series Wireless LAN Controllers (Installation, Security vulnerability patching
• Proven experience with Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center), including installation, configuration, and operational use.
• Deep understanding of 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax (Wi Fi 6/6E), RF principles, and wireless troubleshooting
• Cisco certifications such as CCNP Enterprise, CCIE Enterprise Wireless, or equivalent.
Salary : $125,000 - $145,000
