Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES has an anticipated opening for a Public Information Specialist. We are looking for a creative, organized, and collaborative communications professional to join our team.
In this role, you'll help showcase the impact of BOCES by creating compelling stories and engaging content across print, digital, web, social media, photography, video, and other communication platforms. You'll work closely with administrators, educators, and staff to highlight student success, promote programs and services, and strengthen connections with our schools and community.
Responsibilities Include
Candidates must meet the Civil Service qualifications for the Public Information Specialist title through education and/or experience. A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered in accordance with Civil Service requirements.
A valid New York State driver's license or the ability to meet transportation requirements is required.

- Creating content for websites, social media, print publications, and marketing materials.
- Attending events to capture photography, video, and stories.
- Conducting interviews with staff, students, and community partners.
- Supporting branding, marketing, and public relations initiatives.
- Assisting with website content management and digital communications.
