Cayuga Counseling Services, Inc. seeks a Full-time (40 hours/week) Certified Peer Specialist who can provide non-clinical peer support services using lived experience of recovery to support individuals in resiliency, engagement, and wellness.

- Provide individual and group peer support services to care givers within MHOTRS and Trauma and Resiliency Service programs through face to face, telephone, email and telehealth meetings with the family.
- Provide peer services
- Support individuals in self-advocacy, empowerment, and informed decision making.
- Serve as a bridge between individuals and providers during transition care.
- Assist individuals in identifying needs, determining available community and natural resources and advocating for those services.
- Attend multidisciplinary team meetings and participate in supervision.
- Assists individuals in identifying strengths upon which to build a foundation of improved communication and coping skills.
- Use electronic health record to complete documentation requirements in a timely manner per program guidelines.
- Complete family assessment tools and surveys as required.
- Represent Cayuga Counseling Services at community, state and national forums as assigned.
- Build relationships with mental health and advocacy organizations.
- Assist in the facilitation of the mental health support group.
- Complete Bi-annual required training and documentation of NYS Certified Peer Advocate credentialing.
- Follows Medicaid rules and regulations for billing.
- Follows HIPPA regulations and acquire appropriate releases of information.
- Preforms other duties as required.
- New York State Certified Peer Specialist required (or provisional)
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid NYS driver's license and insurance.
- Lived experience with emotional, behavioral, developmental delays or mental health disorder required.
- Ability to model recovery and maintain professional boundaries.
- Strong communication and engagement skills
- Trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice.
- Must have extensive knowledge of community services and the ability to work cooperatively with other providers: must have ability to document activities accurately.
- 3 weeks PTO in your first year, 4 weeks in your second year
- 48 Hours of Wellness time (4 hours accrue per month) that can be used anytime you feel you need some time for yourself.
