Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance across financial records, and supporting the organization’s financial health. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of our financial data, facilitate timely reporting, and support strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger maintenance using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure consistency between bank statements and company records.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting to verify the accuracy of financial data.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, including income statements, cash flow statements, and budget analyses in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Assist with payroll processing, tax filings, and compliance activities related to governmental accounting standards.
- Support internal audits by providing necessary documentation and account analysis as needed.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all financial transactions, journal entries, and account adjustments for audit readiness.
Requirements
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or non-profit accounting environments with a strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and account analysis.
- Proficiency in popular accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; familiarity with Quicken is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP standards, bank reconciliation processes, general ledger reconciliation, and financial report writing.
- Experience with governmental accounting practices and tax-related procedures is preferred.
- Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic technical skills including 10 key typing for data entry accuracy.
- Knowledge of budgeting processes and technical accounting principles is advantageous.
