CAVCOMM LLC is a full service telecommunications cable installation company specializing in Fiber Optics. With over 30 years of combined experience capable of installation, termination, and testing fiber optic, copper and coaxial cables for both ISP and OSP applications.
We are seeking a Full Time Wireless Small Cell RF Technician who will be assigned to jobs in the Lower Hudson Valley area in NY (White Plains, Brewster) as well as Connecticut. Our satellite office is in Danbury, CT. This position is responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, and optimization of small cell sites. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to installation of 4G and 5G antennae components, radio components, RF cabling, AC/DC wiring, various telecommunications equipment, fiber optics and overall testing. This position will be the first to respond to outages and impairments and make repairs as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Install, test and maintain small cell equipment and related infrastructure
· Install radios, base station equipment, conduit DC power wiring and fiber optic cables on poles or at the base of pole
· Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure optimal performance of small cell sites. This includes locally testing RF and fiber optic cables and connections as well as low voltage DC power wiring.
· Conduct site surveys and assessments for new small cell installations
· Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on existing small cell equipment
· Install pole top and side mount 4G antennas, 5G antennas and the associated mounting hardware: RF, fiber optic, AC and DC power cables with associated panels, terminals and connections
· Perform Sweep test of antennas and coax RF jumpers (Insertion Loss, Return Loss, Distance to Fault). PIM test of antennas and coax RF jumpers
· Install radio cabinets, radios, shrouds and DC Rectifiers
· Connect and rearrange cable facilities associated with aerial, buried, underground and in buildings according to engineering design by utilizing hand tools and specialized equipment.
· Ground and bond antennas, cables, radio equipment and power panels
· Operate bucket truck w/ aerial lift
· Use a variety of telecommunications and construction equipment to complete installations
· Basic use of hand and power tools
· Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards by working safely, strictly following safety guidelines working in the vicinity of power, working aloft, working in confined space, building rooftops through basements and roadside.
· Job site preparation to include establishing and installing traffic control devices to create a safety zone for work
· Read blueprints, designs and job construction drawings in order to collaborate with Project Managers and other team members to complete projects on time and within budget
· Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and site conditions
· Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
Qualifications:
· 2 years of wireless telecommunications or related field
· RF Awareness Training
· Knowledge and utilization of common advanced Telecom equipment including but not limited to: Power Meters, Sweep Meters, Multi-Meters, OTDRs and Signal Identifiers
· Proficiency in installing and maintaining small cell equipment
· Strong understanding of wireless network technologies and protocols
· Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
· Must be able to work well independently
· Valid driver's license, clean driving record and ability to obtain CDL
· Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed
Preferred Skills:
· 2 years’ experience in Small Cell or Cell Site Construction and Testing
· Experience with 4G LTE and 5G technologies
· Familiarity with RF testing equipment and procedures
· AC/DC power experience a plus
· Knowledge of fiber optic cable installation and testing
· Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, Tower Climbing, and First Aid/CPR
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions including snow, wind, rain and extreme hot/cold.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and lift and/or move up to 70 lbs. Must have the ability to work at height of 8ft to 45ft or more and perform work near power lines and electricity. Must be able to drive a bucket truck or other utility vehicles.
