Going on nearly 14 years in business, Caulfield Law Firm is a premier small law firm in Northern California representing public entity and business clients in federal and state courts. We litigate cases through trial and appeal. Anticipating significant growth in 2026, the Firm is looking to hire multiple civil litigation associate attorneys.
We primarily defend cities and counties, and their employees, in a wide variety of different matters, including but not limited to, dangerous conditions of public property, employee negligence, wrongful death, inverse condemnation, nuisance and trespass, civil rights violations, motor vehicle accidents, public contracts, and more. We also represent corporations and individuals in business litigation matters such as breach of contract disputes.

Role Description
- Full-time, hybrid in-office/at home; 3 days in office preferred but negotiable.
- Handle and assist with all aspects of civil litigation – directly communicating with clients, preparing case evaluations, drafting and responding to written discovery, taking and defending depositions, legal research, drafting and arguing various motions including dispositive motions, mediations, trials, writing appellate briefs and arguing appeals, and handling other day-to-day tasks required of litigation files.
- Minimum billable requirement is 1750 hours per year.
Qualifications
- Must have an active license with the California State Bar (no exceptions)
- Excellent brief writing skills
- Strong research skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience arguing motions in court a plus
- Trial experience a plus
- Appellate experience a plus
Compensation/Benefits
- Competitive salary - $130k - $185k
