Catholic Mutual Group (CMG), established in 1889, is the leading provider of property, liability, and employee benefit coverage and related services for the Catholic Church across the United States and Canada. We are currently seeking an Assistant Claims/Risk Manager to join our team in Bloomfield, CT.
Position Overview
As an Assistant Claims/Risk Manager, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our Claims and Risk Management operations. This position involves investigating claims, conducting safety inspections, and promoting risk awareness across insured locations. It’s ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, a background in liability and property insurance, and a passion for service and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and evaluate liability claims, verify coverage, and negotiate fair settlements (some property and auto claims included as well)
- Conduct annual safety inspections and promote safety awareness through seminars and educational materials
- Monitor Risk Management policies and assist in keeping them current
- Perform site inspections to ensure proper property coverage and limits
- Maintain communication with diocesan personnel, pastors, and administrators
- Act as liaison between the Arch/Diocese and CMG Home Office
- Assist the Claims/Risk Manager with various risk management functions
- Respond to emergencies and claim issues during irregular hours as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience casualty claims adjusting preferred, but not required
- CT Casualty Adjuster license (all lines, except WC) required
- General understanding of insurance, marketing, rates, and communications
- College degree preferred
- Familiarity with Catholic Church procedures and hierarchy preferred, but not required
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Willingness to travel and work irregular hours
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills
