Classification: Hourly/Nonexempt
Overview
St Elizabeth Seton Parish is seeking a full-time associate to perform day-to-day custodial work and some basic maintenance tasks for both the parish and school. This person would assist the Maintenance Director.
Job Requirements
- Collect and dispose of trash on school premises.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop on a regular basis.
- Clean and disinfect sanctuary, offices, restrooms and classrooms.
- Periodic window and carpet washing.
- Periodic maintenance tasks, ie., installing a white board, building a bookcase, repairing a swinging door, replacing a window, etc.
- Projects will include indoor and outdoor physical labor.
- Follows local, state, and OSHA regulations.
- Adheres to proper cleaning methods, storage, and proper care of tools, equipment and supplies.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Attends in-service training to develop and improve knowledge and skills of building service work.
- Complies with and supports parish and school regulations and policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Administration.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Previous work experience as a maintenance worker, custodian, or janitor.
- An understanding of cleaning equipment and tools and how to maintain equipment.
- Understanding of safety protocols, safe work environments, security, and disposal of hazardous items.
- Ability to lift approximately 50lbs without assistance.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, climb continuously.
- Must pass a post offer physical exam.
- Proficient in English.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
