What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Assistant position at Catholic Diocese of Grand Rapids Schools?
West Catholic High School is looking for a full-time (32 hours per week) Food Service Assistant to work at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic School. The position is scheduled five days a week 8am-3pm during the school year (mid-August thru the first week in June). The following are characteristics of an ideal candidate:
- General knowledge and understanding of nutrition
- Ability to interact positively with students, staff, and other personnel
- Excellent organizational skills and able to respond and adapt when necessary
- Dependable, with experience working in facilities utilizing quantity food production methods
- Practicing Catholic preferredEssential tasks performed:
- Prepares food items according to standardized recipes and directions
- Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- Learn Point of Sale program, maintains students lunch accounts
- Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guests, students, and co-workers
- Food preparation according to written and oral instructions
- Ability to work independently, or with others, in a close fast paced environment and the ability to address customers in a pleasant, courteous manner
- Physical requirements include walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to be exposed to chemicals.
