Salary: $16.00 an hour

General Description
Under supervision of the Emergency Assistance Coordinator, is responsible for assessing the needs of individuals or families and assisting directly or referring to other appropriate service providers in the community. Under the direction of the Supervised Visitation Coordinator, provide supervised visitation to families involved in the child welfare system, in accordance with contract provisions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide education about services and resources available in the community and how to access those community services.
- Provide an assessment of an individual’s or family’s needs
- Assist clients directly with emergency assistance funds and/or referrals to other community resources.
- Provided advocacy, linkage and coordination of services provided.
- Establish and maintain contact with community services with special attention to the faith community, strengthening service delivery.
- Stay up-to-date on community resources and services that can benefit individuals and families in the program and maintain a resource book specific to the region served.
- Maintain records and reports necessary for good casework practice.
- Work as a team with other agency staff, especially reception/support staff in providing Emergency Assistance Programs.
- Review with adult participants, prior to initial family visit, the rights and responsibilities as well as the process and protocols related to supervised visitation
- Provide necessary supervision and coaching or interactions of all adults and/children involved in the supervised visitation, promoting the child’s safety and well-being.
- Record detailed observations concerning the interactions of all adults and children the supervisor.
- Provide supervisor with written narrative of the visit activities upon completion of the visit.
- Upon request, attend service plan reviews and/or providing in-court testimony.
- Maintain records of all visits including those cancelled or no shows.
- Participate in staff meetings and other agency-related meetings/events.
- Participate in agency’s strategic planning efforts.
- Complete required agency and program reports in a timely manner.
- Perform other related duties as required/requested.

Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma required. Associate degree in a Human Services related field preferred.
Experience: Familiarity with community resources and emergency needs/ assistance in the Finger Lakes region
Bilingual skills in English and Spanish desirable.
A relevant combination of education and experience will be considered.
Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to prioritize assignments, plan, and complete work projects with minimal direction
- Exceptional time management skills and ability to effectively and meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal/written skills
- Ability to work in the following software programs: Windows, Microsoft Office, and multiple online software platforms as required by funders and partner organizations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle confidential information with discretion
- Ability to demonstrate behaviors and attitudes which support organizational mission, philosophy, and policies
- Ability to work in a cooperative and helpful manner with all individuals
- Willingness and ability to foster agency and program wide cooperation and teamwork through use of positive/constructive communication techniques
- Possession of a valid NYS Driver’s license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier.
- Continuous use of a reliable, registered and insured vehicle.
