The Housing Advocate - 1115 Waiver Program, plays a crucial role in supporting individuals as they navigate available services, helping them access life-changing resources and empowering them on their journey toward wellness and stability.
In this role you will:
- Provide comprehensive housing support to eligible households under the 1115 Waiver, ensuring that all services are documented accurately in the Unite Us platform. Housing services include:
- Pre-tenancy services: Assisting with rental applications, negotiating lease agreements, setting up new housing units, connecting clients to financial assistance for housing costs, and ensuring the living environment meets their needs.
- Tenancy sustaining services: Linking clients to free or affordable legal services, assisting with banking and financial literacy, addressing behaviors or circumstances that may jeopardize housing, supporting applications for housing and social service benefits, and guiding clients through the housing recertification process.
- Housing transition and navigation services: Assisting with housing searches, contacting potential landlords, securing rental assistance, and supporting clients through the application process.
- Engage in the Continuum of Care for Housing, collaborating with service providers to improve housing stability for clients.
- Assist clients in completing DSS applications for a range of financial and social service benefits.
- Provide guidance and advocacy to help clients negotiate expanded benefits and advocate for themselves in conferences and hearings.
- Facilitate financial assistance for rent and/or security deposits.
- Maintain an up-to-date list of available affordable housing options for client referrals.
Position Details:
- Housing Advocate - 1115 Waiver Program Salary: $ 22.00
- Schedule: Schedule: Monday – Wednesday, Friday 8:30AM – 4:00PM Thursday 8:30AM - 6:30PM (35 hours per week)
- No subject-to-call shifts required
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience:
- 1–3 years’ experience with relevant experience in Human Services or a related field
- Skills:
- Microsoft Office
- Using databases
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Microsoft Office
- Other requirements:
- Valid Driver's License
- Proof of current car insurance and registration and access to a reliable, working vehicle
