Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the shelter environment to ensure safety, security, and well-being.
- Provide respectful, trauma-informed support to guests, including meal and supply distribution.
- Assist with guest check-in/check-out processes and curfew procedures.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies; complete accurate documentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in shelter spaces, encouraging guest participation.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Uphold professionalism, confidentiality, and compassion in all interactions.
- Support emergency shelter activations during severe weather events.
- Experience working or volunteering in a shelter or social service setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm in high-stress or emergency situations.
- Commitment to treating all individuals with empathy, dignity, and without bias or judgment.
- Willingness to perform cleaning and support tasks as needed.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Medium: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 100% of the time.
