Job Summary

Job Summary

This director promotes student participation in school activities to build community and school spirit. They serve as the associated student body advisor and ASB leadership course teacher. The director coordinates and oversees student-centered activities such as Los Locos, pep rallies, dances, and club events. This director oversees the moderators of grade level moderators and club moderators. This director also implements a co-curricular student leadership formation program that builds CCHS student leaders’ capacity for Catholic servant leadership. Additionally, the position supports the Link Crew orientation and year-long freshman activities. The director is expected to maintain and model Catholic school values in developing and supporting student programming. The Director of Student Activities and School Culture is a 12 month administrative position.

What You Will Do: Foster a positive school culture characterized by unity, respect, inclusivity, high student participation, and high student morale. Ensure all student programs, activities, and leadership initiatives reflect and support the Catholic mission of CCHS. Manage the student clubs and student activities budgets. ASB Student Leadership Oversight: Serve as advisor and primary administrator of ASB, acting as a liaison between students, faculty, and administration. Teach the ASB leadership course and develop a student leadership curriculum aligned to program outcomes. Lead and manage ASB operations, including officer development, event planning, and program execution. Guide ASB student leaders in planning and executing all major schoolwide ASB events. Develop and oversee ASB student leadership selection processes, including applications, interviews, and appointments. Plan and facilitate ASB leadership development opportunities, including the summer ASB retreat. Oversee the planning and coordination of all major student activities, including dances, rallies, and spirit events. Ensure appropriate supervision, safety, and staffing for all student events, including securing and training chaperones. Develop and manage staff supervision schedules for school-sponsored activities. Facilitate ASB lunchtime activities and frequent ASB student-engagement opportunities. Coordinate and guide student leaders as they execute key student life experiences, including Welcome Week, Club Week, and the Student Life Showcase. Supervise and support ASB grade-level moderators Guide and support grade level moderators in class-specific events and traditions, helping facilitate events such as Prom, Senior Boat Dance, and Grad Night. Leadership Formation and Curriculum: Implement, and continuously improve a co-curricular leadership formation program rooted in Catholic servant leadership. Collaborate with administration and faculty to establish leadership development goals, expectations, and experiences, including identifying student positions for which participation in the program is a requirement. Coordinate participation in leadership formation across student groups (e.g., ASB, honor societies, ambassadors, athletic and academic teams). Promote leadership engagement opportunities, including collaboration with other schools. Clubs and Student Organizations: Oversee all student clubs in collaboration with faculty moderators. Develop and maintain a club handbook and establish clear expectations for student organizations. Manage the club lifecycle, including approval, renewal, and retirement of clubs. Support club promotion and student involvement initiatives, including Club Week and the Student Life Showcase. Oversee and set expectations for Los Locos and create a calendar for shared oversight/supervision of Los Locos events. Collaboration and Communication: Maintain and communicate a comprehensive student activities calendar. Coordinate with Communications and Marketing to promote student activities and ensure accurate website and social media updates. Oversee student activity branding and approvals (e.g., posters, apparel, messaging). Collaborate with internal departments to support school-wide initiatives and events. In collaboration with administration and student leadership, establish and communicate expectations for student conduct, attire, and event guidelines. Participate in freshman and transfer student orientation programs. Partner with the Dean of Catholic Mission to support liturgical life, service initiatives, and faith-based programming such as morning announcements and prayer, Catholic Schools Week, school wide drives, and service club selections. Collaborate with the Counseling and Wellness team on student awareness programs and wellness initiatives such as Red Ribbon and Yellow Ribbon Weeks. Coordinate with CCHS Culture Clubs Council (CCC), student clubs, moderators, and staff to promote cultural celebrations and awareness across campus. Work with Enrollment and other departments to support student-facing events and community engagement such as the Student Life Showcase. Duties outside of school day: Attend and supervise all ASB student activities (e.g. dances) and also Los Locos-attended athletic contests throughout the year. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a classroom at a computer workstation and access information from a computer and use a telephone. The employee is required to be mobile to, from and within the classroom, as well as maneuver throughout the school facility to attend meetings, briefings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from and within various city and county-wide locations to attend meetings or events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
